UK Election Voter Turnout Map
- This map explores the different types of symbology classifications and how different symbology represent data in different ways. Natural breaks show natural breaks in the data. Unclassed symbology is used to emphasize the low and high range of values. Standard deviation is used to emphasize values below and above the mean.
- This map shows the constituencies that had election results where the political party won by less than 50%. The three maps show the impact of low voting rates and how people who do vote can have a large impact on the election results.
- A definition query was used to only show constituencies with a 50% or less election result.
- Topics: ocean-centered projections, map rotation, color gradient for raster layers
- The map shows the ocean as one continuous body of water and tectonic plate boundaries.
- Topics: projection exploration, image symbology and de-saturation, using picture markers for point symbols, using transparency for context layers, and creating vignette effects with radial fills in a layout.
- The map uses a South Pole Stereographic Projection to show the circular movement of hurricanes. An image file was used to create the unique glow symbols for hurricane paths. Transparency was used on the basemap. A vignette effect with radial fills was used on the map layout.
